Mrs. Paroubek’s ELA classes had a text-based fishbowl discussion about the challenges faced by the main character in our novel. Students came to the discussion prepared with notes, they used evidence from the text to explain their thinking, they made sure everyone had a chance to speak, and they responded to each other’s comments and viewpoints respectfully. The future is bright! 😎

We are very excited to have the Moreland family join us to share their story and experiences living with autism and epilepsy. We will hear the mother's perspective, siblings' perspective and also from Lindsey the young adult who was nonverbal at age 4 and now is fully independent and thriving. She is an illustrator for the Koda the Fluff series of children's books and has written several children's books based on her own childhood experiences from being the target of bullies to making a friend. The family will offer their books and sensory plushie available for sale after the program. This program is sponsored by the Bloomer Public Library and free for all ages to attend

In Mrs. Klemish's ELA class, her students are going to be practicing how to make and describe a connection between two individuals, events, ideas, or pieces of information in a text. They will be practicing this by using texts about fossils and the history of the Earth. Step one to this unit is to build background knowledge about the Earth. Today they used playdough to build an Earth to learn about the core, mantle, crust, water, and landforms. Before they sliced their Earth in half, they made predictions as to what they were going to see on the inside!
