Dear School District of Bloomer Families,

I hope this email finds you and your family safe and healthy.  I would like to thank all of you for your efforts to make the first trimester of the 2020-2021 school year a success as we had 45 days of in person instruction.  With that being said, community health trends in Chippewa County and Bloomer continue to worsen.

The number of COVID-19 cases in our county and community continue to trend upwards and we remain in a severe risk level.  This situation has made it nearly impossible for us to provide a quality in person education to our students due to the high number of students and staff in quarantine/isolation.  Accordingly, at the recommendation of the Chippewa County Department of Public Health (CCDPH) and for the safety of our students, staff, families, and community the School District of Bloomer has made the difficult decision to move to remote learning beginning on November 30, 2020.

With CCDPH’s approval we will remain in person for instruction through November 23rd.  When we return from Thanksgiving break on November 30th, 2020 all instruction will be remote.  In order to provide continuity, the District will remain in remote learning through December 23rd, 2020 at which point we will re-evaluate our situation to determine if we are able to return to in person learning after Winter Break on January 4th, 2020.   During the remote learning period all co-curricular activities will be suspended and School District of Bloomer buildings will be closed to outside activities.

Schedule:

November 23rd: Last Day of In Person Instruction

November 24th – November 29th: Thanksgiving Break

November 30th – December 23rd: Remote Learning

December 24th – January 3rd: Winter Break

January 4th – Tentative Return to In Person Learning

Remote Instruction:

During the closure remote instruction will be provided on a daily basis following the set schedule which was established during our prior two-week closure.  You will be receiving additional information related to this closure from your student’s building principal.

Meals:

Free meals will continue to be available for pick up at each of our buildings.  If you plan to pick up meals please complete the brief survey found at https://forms.gle/ZbrbC8XsauDwE6J66. If you completed the meal survey during our previous closure you do not need to complete it again.

We will continue to monitor this situation with state and local health agencies and hope to return for in person learning on our targeted date of January 4, 2021. Thank you for your continued support, flexibility and understanding as we do our part to ensure the safety of our students, staff, families and community.

Regards,

Brian Misfeldt
